Can you identify this famous "Cook of the Week"?
Plum Cake - Gayle Savitz

1 large can purple plums

1 stick margarine or butter

2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp cloves

1 cup sugar

2 cups flour

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Drain plums and remove seeds.  Put plums into a small loaf pan and add margarine. Cook on medium heat until margarine is melted.  Stir and remove from heat.

Add sugar.  Sift flour and add to mixture.  Add salt, cinnamon and cloves.

Stir in original pan until completely blended

Bake for 55 minutes and let cool in pan

Sour Cream Coffee Cake - Frances Markowitz

1/4 lb butter

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

1 pint sour cream

1 tsp vanilla


greased cake pan


Preheat oven 350 degrees.

Cream butter and sugar.  Add the eggs one at a time beating well into the mixture.  Sift flour, add baking powder and baking soda and add to egg mixture with 1 pint sour cream.  Add vanilla.  Beat for 1 minute.  Pour half the batter into the greased pan.  Top with cinnamon/sugar.  Pour the rest of the batter on top and add more cinnamon/sugar.  Bake 35-40 minutes
