Poppy Seed Cookies - Ruth Wasserman

1/2 lb butter

1/4 cup powdered sugar

3/4 cup regular sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

3 1/2 cups flour

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 oz poppy seeds

1/2 cup ground nuts


Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Cream sugar and butter

Add beaten egg, vanilla, baking powder and remix

Add the rest of the ingredients and mix

Knead the dough to form logs

Roll in wax paper and refrigerate for several hours or overnite

Slice and place dough on ungreased cookie sheet

Bake in oven until edges are brown

3 eggs

3/4 cups sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp almond extract

1 cup vegetable oil

3 cups flour, approx 1- oz each

1 tsp baking powder

1 cup chopped walnuts

1 cup dark or semi-sweet chocolate morsels

1 cup golden raisins soaked in boiling water for 5 minutes

cinnamon/sugar mixture

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

In a large bowl, beat eggs, sugar, vanilla, almond extract and vegetable oil

In a medium bowl combine flour, baking powder, chocolate morsels, raisins and nuts

Add wet mixture to dry and mix by hand

Line a large cookie sheet with parchment paper

Form dough into 5 loafs

Sprinkle generously with cinnamon/sugar mixture

Bake approx 25 minutes

Remove from oven and cut into 1" slices

Reline cookie sheet with foil and put back in oven approx 10-15 minutes
